Yesterday, a friend of mine told me about a story where Rupert tried to save all the butterflies from going off colour. The result? I made this the night before today. In a meadow where butterflies dance in the light,
Rupert Bear frolics with all of his might.
A fluttering whisper, a silken embrace,
Carries him swiftly through bright, airy space.
Yet suddenly, fluttering wings do confound,
And Rupert is lifted from soft, grassy ground.
He’s borne on a breeze to realms far away,
Where the sunshine fades and the sky turns to grey.
Through time zones he’s whisked with a magical rush,
To a stormy sea's roar and a wild, wind-swept hush.
The waves crash with fury, the thunderclouds scream,
And Rupert is lost in a tempestuous dream.
The butterflies, with their laughter so light,
Are gone in the storm, leaving Rupert in plight.
His clothes, once so dear, are torn from his frame,
As the sea’s wild embrace calls his name.
He plunges and tumbles, the water’s cold bite,
Leaves him gasping for air in the deep, starless night.
The waves lash with fury, the wind wails in pain,
As Rupert is tossed in the sea’s cruel domain.
His heart pounds like thunder, his arms flail in dread,
While monstrous waves rise from the ocean bed.
And just as he struggles, with hope growing thin,
A shadow emerges from the water’s dark din.
An enormous sea cobra, with venomous fangs,
Its red eyes like embers, with wickedness pangs.
It slithers and hisses, with hunger and might,
Seeking Rupert with fury through stormy sea night.
But from the deep’s shroud, a merman does glide,
With scales that shimmer and eyes open wide.
He’s fierce and he’s swift, with a warrior’s grace,
He hunts down the serpent in the turbulent space.
With a clash and a splash, the battle does roar,
As the merman contends with the beast to the core.
And Rupert, in awe, watches the fray,
As the serpent is vanquished and chased away.
The merman turns gently, with a soft, knowing nod,
“Swim to the rocks, where the tides are less broad.
The storm will soon pass, and the calm will restore,
Just find safety and peace on the ocean’s dark shore.”
With a grateful heart, Rupert swims with all might,
Through the swirling chaos of the stormy night.
He reaches the rocks, where the sea’s roar grows small,
And clings to their safety as the wind starts to stall.
Emerging in silence, with the storm now abated,
Rupert looks up at the sky, so quiet, so placated.
The stars twinkle softly in the vast, endless dome,
And Rupert contemplates wonders of the great unknown.
“Could there be more realms in this boundless expanse?
Are there creatures unseen in the great cosmic dance?
What mysteries linger in the night’s gentle sweep,
And what dreams do the cosmos in silence keep?”
The ocean’s soft lullaby, the moon’s tender glow,
Fill Rupert’s heart with a peaceful tableau.
He lies on the rocks as the stars start to fade,
Lost in the cosmos, in a tranquil cascade.
And so in this scene, where adventure did start,
Rupert’s journey unfolds with a thoughtful heart.
Through the storm and the sea, and the merman’s grand quest,
He finds in the universe a moment of rest.
